Hollywood is actors and writers are on Strike and I went the one person I personally know who has his finger on the pulse of the story. My former college roommate and longtime friend, is on this episode to give us an update on his latest escapades. Also, to give us information on the strike and how going to effect our viewing for rest of this year and 2024. We catch up with each other, talk about fantasy football and discuss the fallout of conference realignment too. The leadership of the Pac XII has brought it to the Pac 6. We all knew USC/UCLA were leaving for the B1G. Little did we know what that would lead to. Then they lost Colorado. and the Pac XII plan and hoped that they could land SDSU to fill that spot that Colorado left vacant. Then Pac XII took to much time and SDSU had to go crawling back to the Mountain West Conf. Pac XII was still in such of the Golden Ticket. A media deal that would bring them back to solid ground and allow them to be the hunter. Well, they finally saw the real media deal offer. Streaming only, with the possibility of some simal-cast game on ESPN. The Schools of the PAC XII would have to sell subscriptions to Apple to raise the many to fund their TV deal. What are they kids hocking candy bars and car washes to pay for their sports. Well, Today 8/4/23, The U. Oregon and U. Washington decided to take a half share from the B1G to join and U. of Arizona left for the Big XII.
Leaving Stanford, Cal, OSU, WAZZU, ASU and Utah to fend for themselves.
In my Pie chart of blame, I broke it down to this.
60% The Power trust of the PAC XII Schools for bad hires, bad Media deals and not living in the present.
40% ESPN and FOX for manipulating this from behind the scenes.

Was Pride, arrogance or ignorance that caused Colorado Buffalos to return to the BIG XII or Pride, arrogance or ignorance that has the conference on life support. The lack of a media deal is on the cover of the issue with the PAC XII. The leadership failed on so many levels. Prior Pac XII commissioner Larry Scott thought he was a wheeler dealer. He thought the Money would just keep rolling in and he was wasting it. He moved the head quarters to Silicone Valley were the cost was high and the office was never finished. The conference was over paid by their media partner and they never reported. Now each school is on the hook for millions of dollars in pay backs. Larry Scott turned down a new media deal with ESPN and Fox, believing the Conference was worth more and would get a better deal.
The Presidents, Chancellors and regent members of each schools looked down their noses at other Schools such as Iowa St., Texas Tech, K-State and Kansas, when there discussions of the two conferences. Thinking their high academic standards would be harmed if they got dirty with the lower BIG XII. Then Pac XII hired it's new commissioner George Kliavkoff , who in his first statement made the comment that now haunts him. We are open for business, telling the BIG XII, if you want to be on stable ground come to the pac. This was after the BIG XII lost Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC. Little did Kliavkoff know that 2 of his prized team were about to stable him in the back. USC/UCLA became members of the B1G and weakening their stability. This set off a war between the BIG XII and the PAC XII to try to lurer away member from the other. The Media Deal that was turned down by the Pac XII was taken by the BIG XII; which left the Pac XII with no media deal and no interested suiters. The BIG XII add Cent. FL, Cincinnati, Houston and BYU to strengthen their conference and has stolen a member of the PAC XII, COLORADO. THe Pac XII is on life support, other school are looking to leaving soon and media deal as no major players want a pacific coast only media market conference. Pride can kill you , but ignorance and arrogance can also be deadly.

As we get closer to another fall sport college season, the self inflected wounds of the NCAA Continue to be unearth by the rolling stone of college sports.
First off is Colorado U and it's on going saga on are staying in the Pac XII or , Are they going back home to the BIG XII? I believe we will have an answer very soon, they find the nuts and bolts of the latest offer for a media deal to Pac XII. I give some background on the history and what is driving the decision.
Next, More on Northwestern and their investigations into their harassment probe. It's gotten bigger than Football. Also, Baseball and Softball. What a mess to the point the football players who were set to represent the school at B1G Media days , notified the school they will not attend the festivities. I don't blame them for saying no. why should go there answer question on what is going when the school leadership will not do so.
Something to keep your ears and eyes open for, the Director of Football operation at Notre Dame resign immediately due to personal reason's. No other info was giving, you know someone is digging into the story.
Also, NIL goes to Washington D. C. 2 bills have been drafted to help the schools get a handle on NIL. You have to listen to explain the school are in this mess. It is an old fashion 3 ring circus that they created and needs Congress to bail their butts out.
Lastly, Jim Harbaugh the man who can't seem to remember details and what he covered up and made worst. How he tried to escape the scene of the crime. Only, to get pay raises and maybe a 4 week vacation.

Hello all
I started off with a full mail bag. Please keep it coming, it's fun to respond to those who listen and want to comment on the show.
I give an update on the outcome on the firing of Pat Fitzgerald at NMU. I think it was a hit job by the school paper and the lone student athlete who was out to get coach FItz.
From there I talked about the sanctions given U. of Tennessee Football. How blatant cheaters they were under Coach Jeremy Pruitt. The NCAA committee on infraction got it right. Don't punish the innocent, hit those in charge and the perpetrators.
Lastly, the dumb Baseball coach and associate at the U. of Alabama. Caught gambling because trust the associate to lay down a bet with inside info and how the other guy screwed it up big time.

Pat Fitzgerald was fired today from his position as the Head Coach of the Northwestern Univ. The Academic power & Liberal Arts Power of the B1G. Testimony has come to life in the past serval days of two issues.
1. A culture of hazing/ Humiliations
2. Racial insensitivity
Players were hazing other players for messing up in practice. Humping each other, vile language, keeping a tote board in the locker room.
Minority player were made to feel that couldn't be themselves. Couldn't wear their hair the way they wanted or wear cultural items or express themselves in the ways of the culture they were raised in. The were made to feel like outsiders if they didn't conform.
As I stated in the podcast two things should be made very clear.
1. we don't know the coaches. All we know is what they and school want us to see. A lot people think just because they are a head coach that they are very smart or very cool. We don't know that, I worked with a ton of them and I don't know that. I only knew what they wanted me to know.
2.Coaches and staff's greatest fear is nor NIL or Transfer Portal. It's what is my group of 17-24 yr old people are doing when I (the Coach) do not have control of the time and life. We would joke about, the fact of the fastest way to get fire was for the athlete to do something illegal or immoral. Embarrass the school, break the law or haze others.
There is evidence that the coaches and staff of NWU should have known and acted on what they knew. You as the adult cannot turn a blind eye or cover up the issue. We are mandatory reporters. We sign something every year, that states if we see something say something, but fear also would control us. You don't want to be tagged as the problem or a snitch.

On This weeks quick hit an in depth look at the wonder every changing world of college sports. In the fall of 2018 there was rule change that has sent college athletics to whole new orbit. The Transfer Portal. I explain it's not a place but what it really is. How it given more power to the athlete and leaving Coaches and Administrators on the run. How the rule was to be applied and how it is being mis-used by many interested parties. The many reason way the athletes use it and the biggest why they use it. Some ask why the NCAA and it's members gave in and gave away so much power. I try explain that and the mess as college sport enter the area of free agent. Look at the possible jealousy, the illegal ways it is being applied and people who are benefit from it outside of the athletes. I also, discussed the effect on the schools they play for and it's not the end and and be all of pay for athletes.
Some call it the wild, wild west some call it justice, but all call agree it's only the beginning of steps towards play to and the fall outs of that.

This quick hit deals with the reason for Athletic Programs jumping from conference to another and the real reasons why the are doing so. Yes, it's about money, not the money you all think about. The thirst more live Sports/content is feeding budgets of B1G time athletics. As we know sports are the true last reality TV. To see outcomes as some bet on games. For some it's the ties of our fandom. More than ever college administrators are using large media deals to make their Athletic Depts self reliant , but also 2-4 hr long commercials for their to recruit. Not to recruit Athletes, but regular student body and the brightest minds. Winning championships has been shown to lead to more student applications building your alumni base which can lead to more donations and more endowments money. School are not only to win on the field, but in the research world. To be ranked, just like their athletic teams. They are not only fighting to get in the B1G money deal media conference, also, the AAU. No, I'm not talking about basketball. I'm talking the Assoc. of American Universities. These are the top research schools in the nation. This also drives endowments and their incentives in the President of Universities contracts to obtain bonuses. By the way the endowments funds are control by Hedge fund managers. The whole of colleges has gone corporate.
