My guest works in the assistant living field and is studying the effects of our live as we age.
Jen Awinda runs a assistant living facility and witnesses first hand the effect of our lives as we age. Jen talked about some the common effects such dementia and the many factors that may lead to developing the disease. From diet to the wrong style of exercise we touch on many different triggers. We discussed the different between dementia v. Alzheimer's . We looked at what changes we could make to slow dementia. We also, chatted about the topic of assistant living and how the system needs to be planned for and how we are throwing away our elderly and not making sure that they live their last days to years in comfort and support. Lastly, Jen commented on her books and what insight they may bring. Cold Hearts Warm Bodies the Secrets Inside Assisted Living.

Jeremiah and I began our conversation with a brief background listing of his life.
From we talked about what a compliance officer and in an Athletic Dept and what role they play in the everyday function of the dept. We chatted about what lead him to the calling in his life.
Jeremiah answered my question in great detail, on what is N.I.L.? Also, the do's, don'ts and mis-info out there about N.I.L. He them explained what schools and Athletes are allowed to create a deal that would bring money for service for the athlete. Jeremiah, looked at through prisms if he was still an athlete or Coach. We discussed how you as an athlete can get a N.I.L. deal and people on the other side who are hiring the athletes and what way.
Lastly, we touched on the other topic that is causing an uproar in college sports, the Transfer Portal. It's not a place, but Jeremiah does where it does exist and how athletes and Colleges use it.

GaKnew is a man of the street of L.A., but he is also, an Author, Music performer, an Activist , Social worker, parent and deep thinker.
Gaknew and touch on all the topics that make him multi threat in the world of Social work. He can reach through so may forms of access.
We began our discussion with getting some background on his childhood. Being from a single parent home he describe how it being raised by is very young mother. He fell in love the music of the streets, rap and Hip-Hop. GaKnew started on the path of becoming a Rap Artist and then found that he was better suited for the world of spoken word and poetry. GaKnew entered into slams and contests to hone hi kraft. As he performed more and more he caught the eye of a social worker who believed he could be a conduit to reach young people struggling out on the streets of L.A. As he learned more and about out reach and activists, he wanted to become one. He found the road was not easy, but he endured and was finally hire to do social work. Helped connect youth to ways to stay out of the system. GaKnew, wanted to help those in the juvenile system. He became an educator and also earned a degree in psychology. GaKnew has written a book entitled "Under the Influence". A tale of about the system and it's pitfalls.

I got to catch up with an old fried for this Episode. Matt is an Certified Athletic Trainer. We caught up with the on the families and we discussed what is a Athletic Trainer and what do they do? From there we talked about the route one takes to become an Athletic Trainer. We chatted on why he choose to become one. Next Matt and I talked about the relationships an Athletic Trainer has with their Coaches, Athletes and other staff and why it's important to have those. We chatted about the Procedures of crisis first aid on the field. Matt filled in the blanks of what EAP is and why every Team, School and rec center need to have one. We discussed the people in EAP and their role and Athletic Trainers role as the point person. Again it's about the relationships. JD has a wonderful story to tell and we start with his humble beginnings in So. Cal and his love Basketball. We talked about his dream of playing Basketball at U.C. Santa Barbara and fulfilling his dream by signing to play there. We discussed the set backs he suffered as a young college Athlete and how he was able to overcome them. We sidetracked our conversations and talked about the state of college athletics today. JD told me about the young that he meet (Luc Bodden) in Highschool that change his outlook on life to Writing inspiration. JD chatted about his other relationships that inspired the author in him to put pen to paper. JD gave an insight into his 1st and now 2nd book. JD and I finished our conversation with him giving us insight to his Philanthropy. His book are titled (his new Book)“Darling, You’re Not Alone” and (his 1st book) Moon Flower.
