It's that time of year and I'm not talking about Christmas. Its Football portal time. Before I hit todays topics I talked about the poor announcing on the coverage the CFP. ESPN has clearly told their announcers to be bias on behalf of the SEC. Not for the teams that are in, for the ones who didn't get in. This why they over paid for the games to make sure their voice is the only one you hear on the that topic.
Marshall Univ backed out of a bowl due to loosing it's H/C and 28 players to the transfer Portal. This a bad look for Marshall.
Speaking of the portal, we now see the effects the football calendar not matching the school calendar. Players in the playoff are having to decide to stay and be stuck or leaving their teams before the playoff are over. What a mess!
Diego Pavia the QB at Vanderbilt, sued the NCAA for more eligibility. He claimed his time at a Juco should not count. I tell you what the outcome is and why.

I gave an update on a couple of stories. The first story is on a guy , he a man , he's was 40. That's right , the mullet is back in the news. OK St. Head coach Mike Gundy was told by a board of Directors of the school, that he needed to either take pay cut or be fired for cause. I talked more about flap planting. I even told a story involving my Gophers. One year ago, one of the biggest travesties to happen in college sports. The snubbing of FSU not making the CFP. This year the CFP committee made their selections. Listen to m e and find out what these stuff shirts did with their decisions. Just say they pissed off some people down south. Though the magic of podcasting, I made my predictions one day and reacted to their decisions 15hours on this one broadcast.

Then I finish with information on a peak of the college athletics' future. With the death of the National Letter of intent (NLI), what do we call signing day? Commitment Day!? I look at what happened this past Commitment with the non-Football sports and also, we peak into an early look at Financial agreement day. This will begin financial agreements between athletes and schools, beginning the wonderful new of revenue sharing.

There is fallout from the 2024 College football season that NO one was counting on happening. The athletes find something more valuable than NIL dollars and it's "playing time". They have that its more valuable to them than money. The athletes want exposure for the pro's, their next team or a bN729HY6etter NIL deal. They refuse to sit wait their turn , they want it now.
Also, they other thing to fall out of the use of money to pay athletes in the future. Schools are being forced to hang onto Coaches, that would have been fired by this time of the season. Normally, schools would have turned to a booster to write a check to make a coach disappear. Now, the schools will need that booster money for past payments to athletes eligible to received a cut of the House settlement case. The will need that money for future athletes payments. This is also something thing the athletes wanted for a different reason.

I started the episode by reading a message I received from a high School friend.
Then I welcomed todays guest Former Women's Track Coach Gary Wilson on to the show , by wishing him a Happy Birthday. We discussed the failure in fund raising at the U. of MN. for athletics. We quickly reminisced about the real Board of regents at the U. We chatted about the over side of the coin of athletics. The non-money side and the benefits having a wide range teams offered at a major university. What will be the downfall of cutting opportunities for other athletes and the effect of society. We couldn't figure out a way to save those teams including the courts and Congress. Lastly, what effect will this have on our Olympic moment. (U.S.A.)

My conversation is base on the ever changing landscape of College sports.
I asked Doogie off the top , what does he think about College sports today. He gave an answer that many of us have. We discussed the parity in College football due to the Transfer Portal and NIL. He asked me what I'm seeing and I was able to fill in holes on the topic. We talked about the lack of fund at the U of MN and other places and how they will survive during period without the funds to compete. We are both in agreement that future for some sports at the U are cloudy at best. I then asked him a somewhat unfair question about the lack of local media coverage on the changing world. We finished by talking about the Twins sale and other Topics.

This was to be an interview with a member of the local media about college sports future, it took a hard turn to the Pro's. MN Twins baseball are up for sell. I lost my guest but gained a story. I started with giving updates about the every changing world of College Athletics and I was told about the news of the day by the person who was to be todays guest. We were celebrating the settlement of the House (Hubbard/Cater) Case with the members institutions of The NCAA, The NCAA and plaintiffs of the cases. Paying past for lost NIL and bringing revenue sharing to todays athletes. Well, The judge is wanting better language on NIL/Collectives being kept. The schools want to bring it in house and the Judge doesn't see that way. If the NIL language is clear up the Judge may deny the settlement. I talk about the possible fallout if the case goes back to court. A new term has been born in this discussion.
There is more info on the rebirth of the Pac12. Also, a discussion on who will be next to be asked to join the Pac12.
