It's gum bumping/Talking season in College football/ College Sports. I start off talking about how the SEC spends so much time taking shots at other conferences and coaches. For a Conference that says over and over , that they are the top Conference in all college sports. I think they are unsecure and boastful. Their Conference commissioner spend way too much time telling how great they are and soaking up all the butt kissing he gets.
More College realignment talk, but this more a discussion on how fans of ACC, Big XII schools whining about not being "in the club" as @Danwetzel, @patforde & @RossDellinger of the College Football inquirer Podcast state it. LOL! Podcasters/You tubers who have have allegiance to a school who are not in the club spend their taking shots of schools of the bottom of the B1G or SEC. Stating their school has more to offer than those schools.
Lastly, I touch on transfer Portal stats as far female athletes and the percentages of the young who entered the portal and land out college sports. Beware of the greener grass, it may be swamp land.

As July 1st 2024 rolled around and the teams formally of the Pac 12 officially joined their new conferences. I thought it was time to tell a bed time story about the Death or Demise of the Conference of Champions, the Pac 12. A story so sad , that it killed off one it's greatest hero's. Bill Walton who was a M.O.P. in the NCAA basketball tournament for UCLA. Had to endure a season long good bye to the PAC 12 or as he called it the "Conference of Champions". Days before his beloved Pac 12 was to go away as we know it, Bill died from cancer. This is a story/nightmare of incompetence, greed, arrogance, bad decisions, cover ups and just plain old stupidity. The Power brokers, The Commissioners, Presidents, chancellors and A.D.'s, let down their Coaches, Athletes, Student bodies, Alumni and Fans. With one bad decision after another. Once the TV companies saw and understood the mess they was dealing with found it was easier to manipulate and leave for dead than the Big XII or ACC; I believe were the true targets for death. 100 plus years for American Sports history just left to rot on the side of the road. I tell the story of how it got so bad in this episode and who played a part in it. All the Power People such as Commissioners, Schools Presidents & chancellors , A.D's have all either been fired, left for other jobs or retired with one year of setting the Pac 12 aflame and destroying a once respected and loved Conference.

A member of the U.S. House decided to introduce a bill to insure the athletes could not be made employees of a schools, Conferences or Associations. I truly do not have a grasp on why this brought fourth, but it is name The protection their Economic Freedom Act of 2024. I do have some thoughts on the topic. With the ever changing economic landscape of college athletics Schools, Conferences and Associations are all looking for more and new way to make money since Media sources of money have dried up. Schools are looking to not to subsidize the athletic dept anymore; even they pimp them out everyway they can. Also, the athletes themselves can't be pimped out anymore with giving a cut to them. I talk about two new ways the BIG Xll is looking at making more money, more money. Lastly, MLB is at all time low of the number of Black Americans in the game and why it's happening. What effects are there to college baseball and softball.

With this episode I do short but informational synopsis of the some of the unexcepted fallout from the NCAA V House (Carter & Hubbard) cases. Why would the lesser 22 other conference agree to pay bulk of the 2.8 billion dollar settlement?
Who should the College football players being suing, instead of the NCAA?
What will the NIL money go to in the future? Will collectives survive? Schools are already have taken action to bring them in house. I tell you it will work.
Lastly, What will be the next source income form Athletic departments? It something that has happen at the pro level and it has nothing to with NIL or ticket sales.

With the proposed settlement of the House V. NCAA case last week , I thought it was good time to ask some questions about this historic change in college athletics with no other than former U. of Minnesota A.D. Joel Maturi. Who has also sent some time helping out the NCAA. I began our one hour journey by asking Joel about further conference realignment and the silly notion of some members of the media who believe that Conference would vote for relegation.
From there we discussed who are the winners and losers in this settlement. How it would effect the structure of Athletic dept. on college campus. How it effect the structure of the NCAA. How it would effect the Non-Revenue/Olympic sports. We even talked about how it could change the Olympic model in the U.S. Could the way scholarships taken away or increase to those who do not get them now.
We looked at how the effects on NIL and Collectives and the Transfer Portal. Will it open the college sports to more NIL and transfers. Could it bring some long overdue controls to this mess. How will it effect Title IX and also, the possibilities of them becoming employees.

This Conversation is with Head Coach Mike Burns of the Minnesota Men's Gymnastic Team.
The National Championship winning team. The Program lost it's D-1 status 3 years ago. Mike's hard work has kept the program alive via the Club Level. Mike and I discussed life as a club team and the perks and the disadvantages of their status change. We talked about the level of competition at the GYMACT level.
We chatted about the landscape of college sports and how the House v. NCAA case will effect non-revenue teams on the major college level. Also, how this will affect the USA Gymnastics.
We finished our talk with Mike asking for Volunteer for the Olympic Trials that are happening in Minneapolis in late June.

It's time for the power of College athletics to admit that they need to start sharing the revenue generated by the athletes. A framework has been started and edging towards an agreement to settle the House vs. NCAA case. They have to the end of May 2024. It will cost them 1 billion dollars to back the athlete from 2018 to 2022. This will not end the court cases, but it put an end to amateurism. I go into great detail how the athletes win and how they will lose in the future world of the college sports. I finish with a personal note on the future of my life.

With things changing and other issues coming to a head in college athletics everything little detail is being blown up into a mountain. The way people comment on what they see and hear is mostly an over reaction to gain listeners or viewers by sensationalizing the story. There are a lot of chicken littles out there, as I try to present the information in calm , logical and an easy to understand way.
More updates on the House vs NCAA case. The status of the Pac 2(12) and the Life of the G5. The possibilities of how sports true will end up. Lastly, the State of Florida flexes it legal muscle to scare ESPN and the ACC.
