I once again sit down with my friend Pete Narjaian, former MPLS Central High, Minnesota Gopher football star and NFL Player. Pete and I first break the news that Lou Holtz is in hospice care. We discuss the impact he had on both of our lives and others. We moved on to the magic that U. of Indiana performed by winning a national championship at the highest level of CFB and why it's a story for the ages and why it gives all schools like Indiana hope to become more successful in these time of NIL, Rev share and the transfer portal.
Pete continues to have interest and interviews with college teams about the position of general manager. He also shared his thoughts of what lead to bloody Friday in Minnesota. As the Vikings and Twins bot parted ways with there GM's on the same day. I asked him about interest at the Pro Level and his answer and thoughts may interest you. Pete threw his thoughts on the direction and lack of leadership in college sports. We touched on the Darrian Mensah, Duke v. Miami situation and how it was resolved.
After Pete left the show I wrapped things up on the control of CFP. The changes and non-changes.

It is National championship eve. Miami v. Indiana for the national title. I have to spend time on the latest news on the Game fixing going on in college basketball. Wondering why you haven't heard much about? I tell you why in this episode. Why does this keep happening?, Who is the blame?, Why will it keep happening?
For a short time I discuss the national title game, but if you know me , it's not in the way you are usually that you hear it discussed. I put my own spin on it and of course I do not pick a winner.
The main focus of this episode is why CFB can not get out it's way. I talk about the possible changes to the CFP, but also why the B1G is digging their heel in and possible causes behind the future direction of the CFP. Who is behind the B1G leaders pushing for 24 team playoff and who is pushing the 16 team playoff. In a Scooby Doo style reveal, I tell you the people behind the mask pushing the two conferences.
I finish with a chat on what's going with all the whining by the SEC about governance of college sports and mostly CFB. There is a lot of chatter on Why conference and schools have not signed off on College Sports Commission agreement? Are the schools up to their old tricks of using CSC as a meat shield as they did with NCAA? What will it take for College leaders to get their collective act together? It another year and this is first show of the year. I begin this episode with an update on the Demond Williams jr, the U. of Washington QB and what major mess that he and reps almost caused.

I discuss the tale of two coaching firings to ask the question. Where they covered differently because the possibility of less clicks or is this a two America's situation?
From there I weighed in on the mis-understanding on the M.O.U. (memo of understanding) that states starting next year if Notre Dame is in the top 12 of ranked teams, they automatically will be included in the CFP. Who knew about the memo and when they all knew.
Lastly, a look at sport team culture. Why it has taken a turn for the better or worst. The worst of man. Why are coaches using God/Religion as a tool for their team culture? Have they run out of tools to motivate athletes or just being lazy with a tool that can't be question.

The leaders of major conferences and Notre Dame are feeling the pressure and are acting towards one another as they fight for dollars and prestige. A verbal battle has broken out between Notre Dame and their business , but not conference partner the ACC. They have working relationship that has become very tense the announcement of the 12 team College Football bracket was revealed to the world. Norte Dame making accusations, the ACC claiming they were only looking out for the conference best interest. Then out of nowhere the commissioner of the Big Xll came off the top rope with a vicious elbow to Notre Dame's Pride. There behavior is not collegiate or exemplary.
As I tried wrap things up B1G news from the a school in the B1G. As one of the members had drop a bomb in the middle coaching search carousal time. Again, one's behavior off the field is going to not derail if not crash a promising career, but cost many innocent people to the unemployment line. Today's Pod features 3 generations of Gopher Student Athletic workers. Brehz, Ben and Myself relive days of glory. LOL! We all had different roles in the dept at different times, but we all have great experience's. From the 1980's, 1990's and 2000's, we all learned about working in college athletics and pain of being involved in Gopher Athletics. The 3 of us chatted our roles and what time that we worked there. We discussed the our opinions of where college sports land has change, where it is now and where it is going in the future. We talked about the major turn around of Indiana Football and could it happen at other schools like Minnesota. What's the cost to have it happen if you've been a loser for so long. We laughed about Minnesota continue to not get it right and just be mediocre.
We moved our discussion to the CFP and what we think is right and wrong about the sports biggest tourney and prize. What can college do to get better at over coming the issue that administrators now face.
Lastly, we deal with Opt Outs, Coaches, A.D.'s and players are now opting out of season play. Why are losing team being ask to fill spots. The story behind the scene that is not being fully explained by college leaders. It's ugly and they don't have a way to get ahold of it.

Well the time has come to select the teams for the CFP and Fill the bracket. The Committee has shown once again that they screw up a one car funeral. The twist and turns to keep a dog and pony show alive on ESPN. One team that deserve to be in got left out and then went nuclear on the whole post season bit. One that got that didn't deserve to be in seems to be protected by it's past glory.
Tweaking selection format only served to make a mess of the process. A P4 conference made bad tie breaker rules and almost got shut for two G6 schools.
How will Notre Dame handle football in the future? Will the ACC learn from their near disaster conference scenario? What changes are coming for the CFP in 2027 and beyond? I look at all these questions , here on the Jay-Bee's Podcast.

We are at the end of season and the teams are readying to play their biggest rivals. The coaching carousal continues to spin and the fun ensues. Some school find their man and others are now on the list of school looking to pay someone millions of dollars to lead their programs. One school is even full of glee after the news they received, after a hiring at another school saved them 40+ million dollars.
